Allison Smenner, Ph.D.

 Allison Smenner is a psychotherapist a Bloomingdale Psychological Services. She received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Temple University and is currently completing a post-doctoral fellowship at Pennsylvania Hospital. Her clinical work has included rotations at Swarthmore College Counseling Center, Temple University Outpatient Clinic, the Joan Karnell Cancer Center and Pennsylvania Hospital's Inpatient unit and Outpatient Services. She is also a fellow at the Psychoanalytic Center of Philadelphia.

Allison has extensive experience working with adults, adolescents and children with a variety of presenting problems, ranging from difficulties with daily living to depression, anxiety, eating disorders and schizophrenia. She also has wide experience working with individuals with bipolar disorder, on both an individual and group basis and in outpatient and inpatient settings. Allison also conducts psychological testing including cognitive, personality, and vocational evaluations. Her other areas of specialization include the treatment of patients with primary medical difficulties, especially cancer. In addition she has developed an interest and some expertise in neuropsychology. 

Allison is a member of the American Psychological Association, the Pennsylvania Psychological Association, the Psychoanalytic Center of Philadelphia, and the Philadelphia Society for Psychoanalytic Psychology. She is also a board member and principal editor of the newsletter for the Philadelphia Society for Psychoanalytic Psychology.
